Tax Exempt Nonprofit Foundation Accepts Donations

The wave project was initiated in 1999 by the Arkansas Canoe Club which joined forces with the city of Malvern to achieve their goal of a well designed whitewater play wave in the Rockport area.  The ACC and its members have donated about $16,000 so far to pay for site visits by engineers and plan development.

The Ouachita River Park Foundation was created by Malvern to facilitate development in the Ouachita River corridor within the city limits of Malvern, Arkansas.

A major feature of the planned improvements for the corridor is the creation of a whitewater wave venue at the Tanner Street bridge site.  Improvements will include parking, picnic areas, trails, and both a low flow and a generation flow whitewater wave that will be suitable not only for kayaks, but also for tubes, canoes, and general boat passage.  A fish passage channel is part of the plans; the existing swiftwater rescue training area of the river will remain unchanged.  Viewing areas for whitewater rodeo events will give spectators a good look at all the action.  Please make a donation (they qualify for tax exemption) to the Ouachita River Park Foundation, through the Malvern Mayor’s office.
